Tips for learning the 6 times table

  • The 6 times table is the 5 times table plus one more lot: 6 × 7 = 35 + 7 = 42.
  • It is also double the 3 times table: 3 × 8 = 24, so 6 × 8 = 48.
  • 6 times an even number ends in that number: 6 × 2 = 12, 6 × 4 = 24, 6 × 6 = 36, 6 × 8 = 48.
  • Egg boxes often hold 6 eggs: how many eggs in 7 boxes?
