A free way to practise for the multiplication tables check that Year 4 children in England take in June.

How the questions are chosen

By default, each practice check follows the rules in the official assessment framework: 25 questions from the 2 to 12 times tables, 6 seconds for each, and a 3 second pause between them. There are more questions from the 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 tables, and the same fact never comes up twice in one check, either way round.

Every check is freshly generated, so no two are the same. After each one you can practise just the facts you got wrong, and My progress shows which facts are secure and which need more work.

A note on the timer

Timed practice helps build fluent recall, but time pressure can make some children anxious. If that happens, give more time per question or turn off the countdown bar in settings, then build back up to 6 seconds. Short, regular practice (5 to 10 minutes a day) works better than long sessions.

Privacy and cost

There are no accounts, sign-ups, adverts, analytics or tracking. Names and scores are stored in this browser only and are never sent anywhere. This means progress does not move between devices, and clearing your browser's site data removes it.

The site is free to use at home or in the classroom, including on interactive whiteboards.
